Context

This project used acoustic monitoring at a coal-preparation conveyor site. The monitored equipment included conveyors, rollers and scrapers.

What the system monitored

Distributed acoustic sensing was used to monitor conveyor operating conditions and locate events along the route. Operators and maintenance staff remained responsible for reviewing the information.

Planning a similar installation

Conveyor layout, background noise and operating conditions differ by site. A new installation needs its own route review, operating baseline, acceptance criteria and comparison with maintenance data.
