Solutions

Start with the equipment you need to monitor.

Different assets produce different sounds and operate in different environments. Choose an application to see the main equipment and planning questions.

01

Rotating Equipment

Use equipment sound as an additional way to monitor shafts, bearings, gearboxes, generators, fans, pumps and compressors.

Acoustic data is reviewed alongside vibration, lubricant, temperature and inspection data. Engineering review is still required.

02

Conveyors and Material Handling

Use contact and distributed fibre sensing to observe acoustic events along conveyors and selected drive locations.

The system can support event detection and maintenance review. Event location and classification must be tested at the site.

03

Transformers and Electrical Assets

Monitor changes in sound around transformers, reactors, converter-station equipment and electrical cabinets.

Contact or non-contact acoustic sensors can add condition information. Environmental and electromagnetic ratings must be confirmed for the selected equipment.

04

Wind Turbines

Monitor sound from blades, drivetrain components, generators and associated transformers.

Acoustic monitoring can flag changes for review. Accuracy and warning time must be tested for the specific turbine and site.

05

Hydropower Assets

Apply acoustic monitoring to turbine units, generators, transformers, pumps, pressure-pipe areas and auxiliary equipment.

Acoustic monitoring can add condition information across several types of hydropower equipment. Operators and engineers remain responsible for interpreting the results.

06

Pumps and Compressors

Compare normal and unusual sound patterns from pumps, compressors and hydraulic equipment.

Acoustic results should be reviewed with vibration, pressure, process and lubricant data. An alert alone does not confirm the cause.
